We do not require account registration and do not collect payment information of any kind.
When you visit the Site, our servers and standard web technologies may automatically collect:

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the limited circumstances below.
When you submit a review, your display name, pet name, pet type, rating, review title, and review body are displayed publicly on the Site. Your email address, if provided, is never displayed publicly.
We may share information with trusted vendors who help us operate the Site (e.g., hosting providers, email delivery services), under confidentiality agreements.
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or protect the safety of any person.
If VetScouter is acquired, merged, or transfers substantially all of its assets, user information may be among the transferred assets. We will notify you via a prominent Site notice before such a transfer.
We may share information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.
VetScouter uses a single session cookie to support essential site functions, including displaying flash messages. This cookie expires at the end of your browser session and contains no personal data.
We use your browser’s localStorage to temporarily save review drafts. This data is stored only on your device, is not transmitted to our servers, and is deleted automatically when you submit your review.
VetScouter does not currently use any third-party analytics platforms or advertising networks. We do not place tracking cookies or retargeting pixels.
The Site loads the Bootstrap CSS and JavaScript framework from a CDN (cdn.jsdelivr.net). This causes your browser to make a request to that CDN, which may log your IP address under the CDN’s own privacy policy.
If you choose to share your precise location using your browser’s Geolocation API, the coordinates are used only in real time to generate search results. Precise GPS coordinates are not stored on our servers.
ZIP codes you enter into search fields may be stored as part of your search session and server log data. They are not linked to your identity.
Providing an email address on VetScouter is always optional. If you do provide one:
To request deletion of your email address from our records, contact us using the information in Section 19.
Reviews, vet listing submissions, and suggested edits that you submit become part of the public record on VetScouter. Please do not include sensitive personal information in reviews.
Content that appears publicly on the Site may be indexed by search engines. Even if we remove content at your request, cached copies may remain on search engines or third-party archives.
VetScouter retains a moderation record of removed content (not visible to the public) to detect repeat violations and comply with legal obligations. See our Moderation Policy for details.
We retain different categories of data for different periods:
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information against unauthorised access, including HTTPS (TLS) encryption in transit, encrypted storage of email addresses at rest, and restricted access to the database and admin interfaces.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected individuals as required by applicable law.
Regardless of where you are located, you may contact us to access, correct, delete, or restrict your personal information, or to withdraw consent or object to processing. We will respond within 30 days.
